Day 47

With such recent progress here at DC3, we are confident we will meet our 60 day build target!

Invitations went out today to invite PIPE supporters to our official opening event on June 20th, 2007. Now while that's 6 days after the 60 day build will conclude, we are unable to host the event an earlier due to the building's construction of the main entrance to the ground floor tenancy (where DC3 is located).

If you are interested in coming along to the event, please email amanda.banks@staff.pipenetworks.com to request an invitation with all the details.

And some more good news... after a contractor mistakenly disconnected power to one of our webcams, we now have that back on-line and snapping away.

Day 46

We didn't get any particularly exciting photos today, but you can see from the webcam shot that the flooring has been extended slightly. the guys stopped where they did so that the air conditioning guys had open access to install their pipework, and so the sparkies can get the rest of their under-floor tray work sorted.

The rack distribution switchboards turned up today - yes, more orange switchboards (another 8 in fact).

The sparkies spent more time lugging cables and connecting things up.

The fire suppression guys were in checking out the job - they should be making a start on the pipework on the weekend.

Day 45 - more of the same...

We were starting to run out of things to show you on the blog - there's a lot of work going on, but nothing that's particularly visible is happening (more visible things should start happening tomorrow). The sparkies are lugging and terminating large power cables, the floor section that's already done is having it's cut tiles put in place, the A/C units are positioned on their stands, the fibre guys have had a look at installing their fibre termination racks, and various other significant, but not hugely visible things have been happening.

...but, we took a stroll up to the roof to see how the air conditioning work up there was going. Pictured are the stage 1 outdoor units (the units for the UPS room are just to the left of these, out of the shot).

The pipework on the roof is well underway, and it's extended most of the way down to the ceiling slab of our tenancy.

Day 44 - flooring started

the flooring contractors have started the flooring at the far end of the room earlier than we'd expected, and are scheduled to continue through the rest of the room starting tomorrow.

The air conditioning contractors have started lifting the A/C units into place - delayed slightly by the late arrival of the lifting equipment.

The power cabling is coming along nicely, with most of the UPS cabling now in place and being terminated.

Day 40 - the floor arrives

Another busy day today - more Unistrut floor supports for the underfloor power and air conditioning pipework were installed.

The new fire cabling tray was installed to allow us to replace and neaten the existing building fire cabling that feeds the complex. That will take away a good portion of the ugly cabling that was previously in the roof cavity.

Core boring for the air conditioning pipework continued today.

The copper tubing itself and the associated insulation for the air conditioning arrived.

Power cabling continued, and will continue for most of next week. It's a big job - every cable needs to be run through the traywork, neatly tied down, and eventually terminated and tested.

Our webcam broke today - during the building work the temporary phone extension cable we're using suffered some damage. It was fixed mid afternoon and all is good again.

Most significantly the flooring started to arrive today - there's 3 truckloads of flooring going into this section of the facility (the picture shows some of the tiles located in the end section of the room).
