Day 37 - air conditioning condensers arrive

The air conditioning condenser units arrived today ready to be removed from their crates and craned to the roof.

The first UPS and battery cabinet was put into position, with the remaining 3 units (stage 1) to be moved into position shortly.

The light hangers for the datacentre area were mostly assembled and are ready for installation.

Our fibre guys are working on the provisioning of our first handful of fibre circuits to tie this site into our various networks. They're with the GIS department at the moment to produce the scope of work documents for the contractors. Once they're done, the contractors will start street splicing around the city.

Oh, and yes, someone put cable tray right in front of our webcam, so we'll have to look at moving it again :-)

Day 36

A fair bit happened on-site today, with 10 contractors there for most of the day.

* The sparkies put the two UPS output boards in place, levelled them, and bolted them down.
* More cable tray went into the power room to accomodate power cabling to the mechanical services (air conditioning) switchboards.
* Cable tray went into the datacentre area to support power cabling for the lights.
* Hooks were installed into the roof above all of the first stage rack positions to enable the lights to be suspended.
* The UPS room air conditioning units were levelled and core holes drilled for their associated pipework.
* We're told the raised flooring should have arrived in Sydney today and should be trucked to Brisbane overnight.

The switchboards above (two of them) are the UPS output boards. To the left of these two will go the rack distribution boards (eight of them), and on the wall to the left of that, the two mechanical boards.

Oh, yes, we moved the webcam out from behind that air conditioner :-)

Day 34 - floor sealing

For those keen enough to watch the webcam, you would have seen the guys sealing the datacentre floor area. For those not so keen, here's the picture :-)

The floor gets sealed to prevent concrete dust from contaminating the datacentre area once the facility is operational. This work is preparation for the installation of the floor tiles, which should start next week.

Day 33 - things start getting more interesting...

A lot of stuff turned up today - battery cabinets for the UPS's, batteries, cabling, more cable tray, the UPS room air conditioners, and a few other sundry items.

At least one of the UPS room air conditioners is now hanging from the roof (we know this because it's right in front of our webcam - we'll have to move the camera next week).

The datacentre floor area was vacuumed this afternoon in preparation for tomorrow's floor sealing.

Next week will see a flurry of activity as nearly a dozen electricians and a handful of air conditioning installers appear on-site. The builders will be back to install the door frames, the plasterers back to finish off the walls to the new door frames, the painters back to paint the plasterer's new work.

As an aside - our rack manufacturer tells us they're manufacturing our rack doors in their Adelaide facility while their Brisbane facility is busy producing the racks themselves. The first 10 racks are almost ready - just waiting on the floor to be put in place before they're delivered. ...and on the subject of flooring, that should get underway early next week also.

Air conditioning condensers will arrive early next week, ready to have their support frames fitted prior to craning onto the roof.

Day 32

Day 32 and the fun stuff is starting and a data centre is taking shape.

The latest news folks is that the electrical room floor has been completely sealed which allows us to begin installing the equipment which will be housed in this room.

As shown in the photo below the supply switchboard is on-site, has been levelled in place and is now bolted to the floor.

UPS's and Air Con units are on-site and awaiting their installation.

The second level of tray work is largely complete and the floor mark-out has begun.
